Tips For a Happy and Healthy Pregnancy

The path from conception to delivery is rarely experienced as a straight line. Pregnancy can bring what looks like endless waves of pain, pain, nausea, swollen ankles … the works! But it can also be a joyful time, in which future mum has the ultimate ‘excuse’ to do some serious self-care.OBGY Diagnostics has the Best Gynecologist in Lahore. Our doctors have extensive experience in the field of gynecology. It may often feel that your wish to get pregnant is out of your hands (your body changes before your eyes and when will that baby finally come?!?!), But you can gain control of your health and happiness during this special time by following these tips :

Stay Active

Exercise is not only good for mothers, but also for developing babies! Research has shown that moving during pregnancy can benefit both the heart of a mother and the heart of a baby. Listen to your body and make sure you are gentle. Keep in mind that this time you don’t have to be focused to get in the best shape of your life, you are just focused on staying active. With the approval of your doctor (of course) you can try:

  • Walking. You can choose to do this outside or on a treadmill. Running helps to strengthen muscles and can improve your mood.
  • Swimming. This is one of the best exercises that you can do because it is soft on the joints and relieves swollen ankles. If you feel too heavy to even get started with a training program, the weightlessness of swimming can be a good supplement for you.
  • Prenatal yoga. This strengthens the core muscles and relieves back pain. Prenatal yoga focuses on relaxation, which is great for pregnancy and if you are able to keep what you have learned during delivery, it can help enormously. Try to practice yoga and meditation for 30 minutes every day.
  • Aerobics with little impact. Aerobics keeps your heart and lungs strong while strengthening your body and giving you a boost to endorphins.

Eat a Balanced Diet

Try to maintain a healthy diet when you can and be sure that you are also very hydrated. Keep track of the amount of water you drink to make sure you hold at least 8 glasses a day (or create a sticker overview to practice for your future mamahood). Try to include a lot of fruits and vegetables in your diet, as well as daily portions of protein and cut back on caffeine on one coffee a day (or decaffeinated if you can).

Surround Yourself with Positive People

Stay away from negative people, thoughts, words and deeds, because who needs negative energy around them if they hope to bring a little person into a hopefully positive world? Stay focused on the good things around you by treating others in a friendly way, although this may be difficult to do if you are susceptible to mood changes during pregnancy!

Maintain a Journal

Record how you feel and collect your thoughts during your pregnancy with a diary. Focus on experiences such as the first kick, the first contraction, baby shower and everything that is positive during your pregnancy. Reserve a specific time to write every day. Don’t think, just write! You will be happy with the pregnancy memories and the journey that you have experienced when your baby arrives.

Treat Yourself

Make yourself spa appointments and try a prenatal massage. Although they may not be part of your normal routine, it is a good idea to use them to reduce stress. Frankly, if you take an hour for yourself to put on a face mask while watching Netflix, you have to go for it. The only thing that matters is that you give yourself a break!

Get Some Rest

You may feel more tired during pregnancy and also a little restless. Try to sleep on your side, especially during the third trimester. If you have trouble falling asleep, there are many ways in which you can relax before bed during your pregnancy. Try these relaxation techniques:

  • Yoga
  • Tensioning
  • Deep breathing
  • Massage
